If you’ve been hanging with me here at Westhouse for any period of time, you know that I value transparency in business, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because you aren’t just my customer, you are a part of my community. Several months ago, I announced that I would no longer be making signs, a difficult decision I made largely in part for due to physical limitations following two unexpected knee surgeries in one year, but also because logistically having the workshop was becoming less and less feasible.
After speaking with several military spouse sign makers, I decided to move forward with transitioning duty station signs over completely. Unfortunately, that transition was not as seamless as either of us anticipated. We’ve struggled with many unforeseen issues, the greatest of which stem from logistical (sourcing, shipping, and pricing particularly because of Covid) and artistic (continuity) challenges.
At this point, I am making the decision to pause continuing signs altogether while I take some time to think about how I can best keep my promise to not leave you hanging as you move. I know how frustrating it is to have started your sets and not be able to continue them. In the interim, if you know of another sign maker who is willing to continue your signs, I’m happy to talk with them to get you taken care of.
In the coming days, I’ll be sending out a survey via email to get a feel for where this community is in terms of aesthetics/style/practicality and to get some feedback to better determine the way ahead. I truly apologize for any inconvenience this transition/pause may cause, but know I’m working hard to come up with a viable, long-term solution. As always, thanks for your understanding and support. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any specific questions.
